Luck is a crucial part of “The Rocking-Horse Winner” I have throughout the story the narrator desires luck as it is the only way to achieve money according to his mother. The concept of luck is brought up many times and seems to have an essential role in shaping the narrator’s view as he desires to be lucky to be loved by his mother. This school also indicates that one can never truly know whether they were lucky or not just like the narrator as he died in the end regardless of how much money he made questioning whether he was truly lucky in the end or not. I chose this image because it directly mirrors what the narrator is going through as in this image a person is walking under a ladder near a black cat about to break a mirror and get hurt at the same time which is about the most unlucky thing possible. It makes the quote stand out as ironic as well since it’s asking whether someone is lucky or not and how they would know it and the picture is showing how someone can have the unluckiest day ever.
